Leading Manufacturing Company Outsources Colocation Needs to Support Its Aggressive Growth
Denver - May 2, 2007 - ViaWest, a leading provider of adaptable colocation and managed hosting solutions in the Rocky Mountain region, today announced it will provide colocation services to TUFF SHED, America’s premier provider of installed storage buildings and garages, to support TUFF SHED’s aggressive growth. The addition of TUFF SHED to ViaWest’s growing portfolio of customers increases the company’s footprint in Colorado by 20 percent as compared to this time last year.
TUFF SHED has seen significant growth in the last several years, including the addition of five new manufacturing facilities in the United States in 2006, and another six new factories planned for 2007. The company has also increased its distribution network, which includes nearly 1,500 Home Depot locations across the country. To support this growth, ViaWest will provide colocation services for TUFF SHED, including complete data backup, storage, security and retrieval services for data as well as an extensive disaster recovery plan.
“For several years, TUFF SHED has internally managed its data storage needs at one of our manufacturing facilities. As our data storage and security needs grew, our internal operations could not keep up with the growth of the business. We felt it would be more cost-effective and secure to work with a local provider who specializes in colocation,” said Lorin Cook, director of IT at TUFF SHED. “We selected ViaWest to ease the strain on our IT department, increase IT cost-savings and secure our data more effectively.”
ViaWest’s colocation solutions have seen extensive growth during the first quarter of 2007 throughout the Rocky Mountain region where it operates seven data centers providing colocation and managed services. The company provides businesses with a world-class facility with easy access to its equipment, a backbone network, redundant power and environmental controls, fire detection systems, high-level security, onsite service and extensive disaster recovery plans.
“Security is becoming a vital component for data storage. Keeping up with the amount of space needed to securely store critical business data is something both public and private companies can find challenging. However, it is critical for IT departments to have a plan in place to protect their organization's information and overall infrastructure to avoid down time and other risks that can severely impact the business,” said Roy Dimoff, CEO and co-founder, ViaWest.
